Costa Blanca, Spain,
Here at Cool FM we highly recommend the Costa Blanca, we feel it is one of the best areas to holiday and live in the world, highly underrated ! with fabulous weather almost all year round, beautiful beaches , low cost of living and only a few hours from the UK, why go anywhere else ?
Below we offer our personal description of the various areas located in our surrounding area
Obviously the hub to many of the average tourists to the Costa Blanca but we feel very much underrated of course unfortunately stereotyped, especially by many who have never actually been !
Yes we know it can be home to the 1 euro pint or 1 euro breakfasts and the odd bunch of stag and hens but most of which are centred on a very small central area of the “new town” but there are so many areas including the old town, poniente and others.
However there is so much more, of course the beaches are second to none, spotlessly clean and so many to choose from with crystal clear water and warm temperatures almost 9 months of the year !
There are indeed very low cost places to eat and rarely poor quality but there are also many offering extremely good value “menu del dia” a traditional 3 course lunchtime and evening menus including a 1/2 bottle wine for normally around 10.00e some extended all day and night ! and generally very good quality and choice, Chinese and other ethnic restaurants also offer many 3 course menu with wine served all day and night from only 5.00e ! yes really ! with a huge choice of ex pat owned businesses offering traditional British foods for that taste of home.
There is entertainment from good old karaoke, live cabaret and tribute bands across the resort, sure to keep you or your guests entertained.
There are many other attractions to suit all ages from local site seeing, did you know home to many Roman ruins ? hill walking, mountain climbing, boat excursions, of course shopping with many branded stores offering good value for money when the pound is strong, Theme, water and sea life parks there really is something for every age !
Properties tend to range from 100,000.00e for a small 1 bed apartment or duplex to villas and large apartments from 200,000.00e to 1 million ! depending on location & views.
Alfaz & Albir
Very close to Benidorm and reachable by the standard blue bus no. 10 and only around 1.50e Alfaz is the village on the hillside only about 10 mins out of Benidorm and Albir is the beach front area. Very cosmopolitan with many nationalities holidaying and living in the area. The properties vary a lot from the high rises of Benidrom with most properties not being above 3 to 4 storeys. Albir is much more relaxed not so much entertainment but an abundance of restaurants and cafe style bars offering snacks and full menus but in relation not much different to Benidorm and many an excellent meal from around 10.00e ! the beach is predominately smooth pebble but beds are available, or take your own, we advise light shoes for walking and swimming for ease of access and leaving the sea which again is spotless and clear, though quite deep. there is also a lovely walk to the lighthouse suitable for all ages, the views are stunning !
Properties again range from 100,000.00e to again over the million and more !
La Nucia / Polop
Both of these close by traditional Spanish villages are set on the hill / mountainside above Benidorm easy reachable by car or national hourly bus again only costing around 2.00e.Although small villages both have weekly market, supermarkets and everything you need to holiday or live in the area with only 15 to 20 mins away prices can be considerably lower with new villas around 150,000.00e ! even town houses and apartments less than 100,000.00e !
La Cala / Finestrat
The La Cala Finestrat ( the bay / beach resort of the mountain village of Finestrat ) area is around 15 mins away along the coast away from Benidorm back towards the airport and Alicante which can easily be found by the landmark Bali Hotel or the huge El Tempo building reaching high into the sky 200 meters and 47 floors ! queit residential area with many restaurants predominately Spanish both holidaymakers and residents however very laid back and relaxing if that is what you may wish.
Finestrat village itself is set among the near by “gap” mountain a lovely quaint village well worth a visit and some bargain properties, 15 mins by car from the beach passing the popular urbanisation Sierra Cortina a development of new modern and traditional properties to suit all close to the commercial shopping complexes and golf courses.
various properties from the tower block apartments to villas and townhouses from less than 100,000.00e upwards
Villajoyosa / El Campello
Traditional Spanish fishing villages along the coast excellent beaches and days out or if you wish to live and mix with the Spanish way of life
